We seek to remove barriers and create strategies that venture outside the framework of conventional dental care settings in order to reach those unable to access care.

Oral Health for Total Health
Oral health is a key indicator of overall health, wellbeing and quality of life. The World Health Organization defines oral health as “A state of being free from chronic mouth and facial pain, oral and throat cancer, oral infection and sores, periodontal (gum) disease, tooth decay, tooth loss, and other diseases and disorders that limit an individual’s capacity in biting, chewing, smiling, speaking, and psychosocial wellbeing.”

Not all Canadians see an oral healthcare professional on a regular basis. While the majority of Ontarians have good oral health, there are subgroups in Ontario that cannot appropriately access dental care and have poorer oral health.
